My eyes!
Ok, I’m going to show my uncoolness here by admitting that I never really saw the point of Technorati in the first place. But really, was this redesign necessary? And could it be fuglier? I’m not afraid of bright colors, but that design just seared a hole in my brain. And, there are drop shadows on the icons. Just when I thought I couldn’t hate stupid little icons any more… Just another reason for me not to go to Technorati, just like I didn’t before.

It can’t hurt to dream…
I so want to implement the Big Red Angry Text technique in to the university-wide templates that I developed. Every time I see my beautiful little code violated by WYSIWYG markup— font tags and align attributes and break tags, oh my— a little part of me dies…

The average user
Zeldman says the average user was recently spotted in Northville, Michigan, purchasing 10 lbs. of potting soil and a garden hose. Seeing as that is the town I grew up in, I wonder if that average user was a relative of mine, or the high school teacher that introduced me to the internet back in 1989. Or some old classmate that never got out.

What’s the opposite of a dinosaur?
Joe uses “mammal”. I think if we mean it in an “age of” or when “blank ruled the earth” sense, it would have to be insects. Because as much as we mammals don’t like to admit it, the age we are living in now is the age of the insects.
