Yep, I did it again
I had a few days to myself, and what do you know, I ended up redoing my personal site. Seems to be kind of a pattern for me. I am really liking this new setup. I liked the flat-file site I had going with Scriptogram, but development of that product seems to have stopped. I had a look at Skrivr, but it didn’t really resonate enough to get me to make a switch. Then I read the 24Ways article on Jekyll and GitHub pages, and for the first time Jekyll clicked with me. It took me about a day to figure out how to get everything up and running, including hacking together a couple of OS X services that automatically format link posts and quote posts for me from selected text in the browser. It took about another day to choose and modify a theme to do what I wanted, and about half a day to reformat and clean up the yaml data in my Scriptogram posts. Not too bad. As always, it remains to be seen whether I will actually keep this version alive and kicking, but I am happy so far with the process.

Managing a Mind
At the bottom, this was all I could see. I felt overwhelmed by others’ perception of me. Was I a success or a failure? Would I be discovered as the fraud I’d convinced myself that I was? These twin pressures — that I was unconscious of at the time — had lead me to a place of crippling self-doubt, questioning my very existence.
The act of discovery, of investigating how the mind functions, led me to a deeper understanding of myself. Developing an awareness of psychology and learning about conditions like status anxiety and impostor syndrome helped me to understand and recognise how my mind worked, enabling me to manage it more effectively.

Project Hubs: A Home Base for Design Projects
Here’s what makes a project hub great: — Serves as a centralized home base for the project –Trains clients and teams to decide in the browser –Easily and visually view project’s progress –Provides an archive for project artifacts
The idea of a project hub is a great one, and may be something I try out at work. Even better, is the fact that Brad has linked up his own working hub for a project he is designing in the open, along with all the meeting notes, wireframes, style tiles, etc. It is fascinating to get a look into his process, and viewing and example of an outside process may be very useful for folks at work.

When ‘Life Hacking’ Is Really White Privilege
Oftentimes, when you take (or ask for!) things that do not belong to you, women are giving you the side-eye and exchanging glances with each other. Maybe you don’t care, because you are “getting everything you want.” But I call these glances “networking,” and I consider your obliviousness to them a lack of social skills and a deficit of emotional intelligence.

Analyzes CSS typography used on a site
When you’ve analyzed as many pages or different views as you’d like, you’ll start to see some interesting patterns emerge in the data. In the right-hand column, you’ll see examples of how each kind of typography we found has been used in a real context on your site. It is organized by color and then by size so you can easily see how you are using typography.
